Why a barrier company wrote software
Smart India Enterprises has been automating entrances from Goregaon West, Mumbai since 1980, as part of the MK family — India’s oldest name in the trade. Fourteen product lines: rolling shutters, high-speed doors, automatic gates, boom barriers, turnstiles, dock levelers. Our own SIE motor range. Systems installed for Bharat Electronics, Smiths Detection and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.
Which meant that for four decades we watched what happened after the barrier went in. A guard with a register book. A queue at eight in the morning. A committee unable to answer a simple question about who came in last Tuesday. The hardware worked perfectly and the gate still did not.
So we built the software ourselves, at our own sites, with our own guards telling us what was wrong with it. Every part of Smartie Gate Pro came from a real gate in Mumbai — including the parts we got wrong first and had to fix on a live site with a queue building up behind us.
What that means for you
We install the barrier, the camera, the relay and the software, and we service all of it. When something stops working there is no argument about whose fault it is, because it is all ours.
